A few useful answers

How do I sign in or recover my account?

Open Account in Nilo and use the sign-in option. If you’ve lost account access and saved your recovery code, choose the recovery option to set up access again. Keep the replacement recovery code somewhere safe. Support cannot reconstruct a lost recovery code or decrypt your chats.

Can Nilo read or restore my conversations?

No. Your messages, attachments, and AI responses are encrypted, and we cannot read them. We do not keep copies of your chat history on our servers or in account backups, so we cannot restore it for you. See our privacy policy.

How do I delete a conversation?

Open the conversation’s menu and choose Delete chat, then confirm. Signing out does not delete saved chats. If deletion fails, contact support.

What happens when I turn on web search?

Web search is optional and starts off for new chats. When enabled, Nilo's search integration sends queries generated from your conversation to Exa. Queries may contain details from your messages. You can leave search off and still chat with Nilo. See the privacy policy for details.

Why isn’t Nilo sending my message?

Check your internet connection and account sign-in, then try again. Check any error message for an attachment or usage limit. If the issue continues, send support the error text. Avoid deleting the app while troubleshooting, as this can erase your chat history.

How do I make a privacy or account-data request?

Email hello@nilochat.com with “Nilo privacy request” in the subject and tell us what you need, including requests to delete account information. We may ask you to verify account control, but will never ask you to email login credentials or a recovery code. Conversation deletion is handled in the app.
